The Buddhist Association of UCI offers a talk by Professor Roger Walsh, M.D., Ph.D., titled The Art and Science of Meditation: How Does It Help and How Do You Do It? Meditation is now practiced by millions of people worldwide, and research demonstrates multiple emotional, mental, physical and spiritual benefits. For example, psychological benefits include increased happiness and self-acceptance, calm and clarity, as well as greater learning ability, academic success, and relationship skills. Its traditional benefits include the cultivation of virtues such as love, compassion, and joy. This talk will summarize research findings of meditation’s benefits and introduce core practices.
